TransActual, the UK’s leading trans-advocacy organisation, has launched its biggest survey yet on the experiences of trans people living in the UK.
The Trans Lives Survey 2026 aims to gather crucial data on trans peoples’ experiences of accessing gendered spaces, employment, medical care and transphobia. The data will be used to help improve understanding of what it is like to be a trans person living in the UK in 2026.
The survey is fully anonymised, takes less than ten minutes, and will be used for a report that will be freely available online, and will be shared with policy makers, academics, non-profits and healthcare organisations.

“This is our third time running the Trans Lives Survey, and we want to make it our biggest one yet.
Even before the EHRC’s unworkable Code of Practice came into effect, we know from speaking with our community that using a bathroom or accessing healthcare was already becoming more difficult for trans people living in the UK.
This year’s Trans Lives Survey will provide clarity on the consequences of the government’s failure to stand up for trans equality, and will give us the data needed to more effectively campaign for change.”
BACKGROUND
TransActual is a trans-led trans advocacy group based in the UK, campaigning for rights, and improved access to healthcare, for all trans people.
The Trans Lives Survey 2025 reached over 4000 respondents, and showed that trans people in the UK were being catastrophically failed. Rising anti-trans hatred, from the media, politicians and in the streets, has created a hostile environment.
