There are more and more obstacles being placed in the way of trans and non-binary people wishing to change their name. This also disproportionately affects other groups, such as survivors of abuse.
We believe that these represent significant and deliberate challenges to trans and non-binary people.
We believe that these actions may be discriminatory and unlawful under the Equality Act and the GDPR.
We call on organisations and legal professionals to support the trans and non-binary communities, as well as other minority groups, in resisting these requirements and promoting the right for individuals to have their legal name recognised in accordance with the law.
