Last year, thousands of you responded to the EHRC’s 2025 Code of Practice consultation. Many of you also shared your responses with TransActual. As you might have seen, we used these to create a 2,800-page dossier, which we delivered to Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson. Huge thanks for being part of that campaign!
We are now excited to invite you to take part in another important project.
We are collaborating with Dr Kat Gupta, a researcher in Politics at Royal Holloway University of London, to examine how trans people and our supporters responded to the EHRC consultation.
Kat aims to analyse the consultation responses so we can better understand trans people and our supporters’ concerns, what trans people see as being at stake, how we, as trans people, talk about ourselves and our lives, and what we want to see from our government and society more broadly.
We hope this research will give us a better understanding of what our community is most concerned about, help trans people’s voices continue to be heard, and help TransActual continue to work and campaign as effectively as possible.
Who can take part
If you…
- Are 16+ years old
- Are trans, non-binary, or supportive of trans people
- Submitted a response to the 2025 EHRC consultation on the revised Code of Practice

What would I need to do to take part?
TransActual already holds an (anonymised) copy of your submission. To be involved in this study, you would just need to give Kat permission to access your submission and include it in their analysis, by signing their consent form. Alternatively, you can submit a copy of your submission to Kat directly.

- Have a read of the attached information sheet, which gives full details of Kat’s study.
- Email kat.gupta@rhul.ac.uk to let them know you are interested in taking part.
- Kat will then email you a consent form to fill out and email back.

We take your privacy very seriously. We will do everything we can to limit the risk that you could be identified in the analyses that come out of this project. Please read the participant information sheet to find out about how we will anonymise your contribution, and please do tell us if there’s anything you’d like to be anonymised that isn’t covered by our standard approach.
