The Dream vs Reality

Illustration of two people sitting on a bench. One person is wearing a trans flag cap and a tshirt with the trans logo on the back. The other has a tshirt that says I love my trans kid. A shopping bag on the bench says basic trans healthcare in the bag. A book on the bench has the heading more than 2 genders celebrated. A skateboard leaning against the bench says GPs on board with gender affirming care.

This spring, TransActual are partnering with Lush in the UK. Our aim is to speak out on behalf of trans and non-binary people everywhere. To educate and explain to a wider public whose main source of information about trans folk is a biased, sensational, and often hostile national media.

Are we apologetic? Hell, no!

The central focus of this campaign is our dream of a better future. How things might be in a world that was accepting of difference. A world not set up to protect historic privilege.

In support of that, we have produced a short booklet. Download it. Read it. And if you like it, and think you can use it to support your own work – at an event, a demo, or just an evening talk – drop us a line now to order your own copies to give away: press@transactual.org.uk.

With thanks to Lush and My Genderation for partnering on this campaign. 75% of the sale price (minus tax) of the Lush Liberation bomb will be donated to TransActual and My Genderation to support our work for the trans communities in the UK.

Note: this resource was written before the UK Supreme Court’s Ruling on Equality Act definitions. Read our statement on the judgement.
