TransActual expresses its disappointment at the EHRC’s failure, once again, to understand that they need to protect the rights of trans people as well as everyone else.
Today’s EHRC statement, calling on the Scottish Government to delay it’s proposals to reform the Gender Recognition Act because of the actions of a few implacable yet noisy people, comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s resolution by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which criticised the UK for the increased antagonism against LGBTI people as well as condemning so-called “gender critical ideology” as against the basis of human rights for all – mirroring last autum’s report from the United Nation’s Independent Expert.
That the EHRC can be so out of line with established, mainstream international views on human rights is an ongoing alarming situation, and further reinforces our view that the Commission has not been fit for purpose for some time.
